Ferry to Spain
Hey Folks
I was taking a train ride with a bunch of nuns today, I was worried
because you know they are always involved in a lot of accidents,
anyway is it proper to say god bless you when a nun snezzes?
I also got to watch a lot of world superbike races on the ferry to Spain,
I saw the Donnington round and 2 races at Monza, they were both very
exciting, no wonder it is so popular. I also saw a side car race from monza
on TV, those guys are crazy...
got to run

Hello Tarheel BMW folks
I wanted to write to give you an update on Al Taylor.
Unfortunately he suffered an overdose of Ham while in Seville, Spain.
While he was making progress recovering he had the bad luck to witness "The
running of the sorority girls" in the shopping district of Seville. This left him with
severe mental trauma and a serious case of heartburn.
The "running", which starts with the gathering of the girls, then a 2-hour session
of bickering, deciding where to eat, what to see, what to wear, etc., and then precedes
at speed to the local Benneton and Gap stores.
No one was seriously injured, but there was an incident involving a girl who answered
to "Marge" and a thong...the thong had to be destroyed.
It was this incident that pushed Mr. Taylor over the edge.
We have him now at Momma Rossas in Riomaggore, Italy.
He is making progress, yesterday he drank a bottle of Chianti while sitting on a rock
in the Mediterranean Sea.
We hope he will be in condition to make it to the F1 race in Monaco on Sunday so
he can duly report to you.
I will keep you posted on his progress, as he is very anxious that his friends back
home not worry.
Thank You
Harry Skeen, PhD, S.P.a etc.

Seville, Spain
Hello
I am in Seville, Spain. This place is absolutely the best place I have been.
I have a $9 room in a pension with a balcony and am awakened every morning
by the wonderful sound of unmuffled vespa´s. but at $9 it is great. I think the
noise is some Karmic payback for my Bavaria.
I went to the market today in the center of town, it dates back to the 1400´s.
Any flea market types would have gone absolutely nuts. There was everything
there: Antiques, tools, clothes, books, anything you can imagine.
Some things I ALMOST bought: Spanish magic 8 ball, stack of A-Team
comic books, Micheal Jackson LP titled
¿Black or White?, Several toy
Porsches and BMWs, World Rally Championship Video, Spice Girl Doll,
Picture of Luftwaffe officer with Spanish AF officer, Buttman goes to Europe
Video (for Wade Brown), 1971 SEAT (fiat) owners manual.
I did buy a brand new necktie for $2.50
I understand why Hemmingway spent some time in Spain, it is like a great
big Key West down here. Nobody seems to get out of hand but leisure
activity seems to be the order of the day and there is much hanging out
at cafes, and eating of Tapas. It is great to walk into a cafe, get a $.60
beer and have them carve some ham for you right on the bar.
I have been able to catch some flamenco shows and they are really
great, the best shows are at a "secret" bar whose only marking is a
red door in a block of residences. The dancing goes on until at least
2am.
By luck my plans put me in the vicinity of the Monaco F1 race so I
guess I will have to go...don´t know any details about tickets but I am
sure I will find a way to the track.
I hope y'all have good weather for the upcoming school, I will catch
up on the track time when I return.

Things to know about Seville
Facts/Things to know about Seville
I can get Pork Skins at the cafe´ below my room;
They listen to the Beatles or Flamenco here, I haven't heard the Madonna
remake of "American Pie" once;
If ordering ham and you are given a choice always get the more expensive
"Serrano" ham, it is fantastic. the cheaper ham is good also;
The most annoying sound in the whole city is the sound of a tourist dragging
a wheeled suitcase down the street, they got cobblestones here so leave
the skateboards at home;
Do not rent a car if you are going to stay in the city, but a car is a good
idea to explore the coastal areas;
Order a Cerveza, not a brand/bottle of beer, you will get a tall glass of
draft for under a buck and locals are more likely to talk to you;
Forget about iced tea, the most refreshing drink is a tall glass of sweet
red wine, on the rocks with a big splash of lemonade and a lemon wedge,
muy bueno;
Be prepared to talk, this is the friendliest place I have been to, I spent
10 hours, 8 glasses of cerveza, 5 glasses of wine, 2 caffe con leches,
and approx. 10 tapas talking to a Spaniard, a Brazilian, and a couple
from Philly.
Tapas are small plates of food such as sardines, paella, ham rolls, and
general hors dóurves, that are always excellent
If you are taking a European holiday and you start in Seville, you will be
disappointed by everywhere else you go.
